Basic Skin Care Routine

When thinking of a facial skin care routine, the first image popping into your mind is probably an overwhelming amount of skin care products. It doesn’t really sound “basic” nor easy.

Due to our busy lifestyle or lack of will, some people might need a faster way to take care of themselves. Don’t worry: a basic solution exists. Getting that flawless, glowing skin you’ve always wanted does not demand hours and hours of skin treatment. You just need a daily dose of consistency along with the right products.

Just to be clear: a multi-step skin care routine is not a bad thing. However, not only does it require more time and products, but also it can easily cause skin irritation due to active but incompatible ingredients.

So, if you believe that simpler is often better, go ahead and get acquainted with these 2 simple actions and repeat them daily until they become your forever routine.

1) Cleanse

The first step is cleaning your face. Otherwise, applying products on skin full of dirt and impurities will be a waste of time. Even worse, it may lead to clogged pores and therefore, breakouts. Since our goal is flawless skin, removing all the dead cells, oils and impurities that our skin produces daily is essential. How do you do that?

First, wash your hands with soap and water. It’s important to remove any dirt from your hands before cleaning or touching your face. Then, take about a dime-sized portion of gel cleanser or a pump of foam cleanser onto your dry or moist skin. It’s important that your face is not completely wet, otherwise the product won’t stick to your face and do its job. Rub your hands and apply it to your face with a circular motion. After a minute of massaging, simply rinse with warm water and pat dry.

When choosing a cleanser, always buy the most accurate one according to your skin type. Sometimes, the ineffectiveness of some products is caused by a mismatch of your skin type.

  • If you have dry skin, these are perfect for you:

Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Shea Butter and Pro-Vitamin B5 cleanses and softens your skin.

3-in-1 Cleansing Melt washes away impurities and makeup, leaving your skin clean.

  • If you have combination skin, you’ll love:

Perfectly Clean Foam Cleanser is great for daily gentle cleansing. Unclogs pores and brighten your skin.

Firm Skin Acai Cleanser with antioxidant rich acai berries is perfect for revitalizing and brighting mature skin.

  • If you have oily skin, you’ll fall in love with:

Sebium Foaming Gel regulates sebum quality thanks to its purifying agents, such as zinc sulfate and copper sulfate.

Water Purify One-Step Cleanser refreshes your skin thank to its Mint Essential Water, which purifies and tones.

2) Moisturize

Moisturizing is probably the most important step in a skincare routine. Do not consider it as a simple chore but see it as a powerful tool. The best time to do it is right after cleansing or a shower, as your face is still wet and will easily absorb the cream. Apply the product on your face and neck, and massage delicately. Moisturizing can smooth your skin, avoid irritation, and prevent wrinkles and blemishes.

When looking for moisturizer, also consider your skin type: if it’s oily, go for an oil-free lotion; if it’s dry, look for a rich cream. Also check whether they’re allergy and dermatologist tested to avoid any skin irritation, especially in case of sensitive skin.

Furthermore, the best option would be buying a moisturizer to protect your skin from UV rays. Moisturizers that contain SPF 15 or higher improve skin appearance and reduce UV rays damage. You can also opt for a face sunscreen.

This two-step skin care routine is the most basic one. You can always add toners and serums or specific products in case of skin conditions. Always remember that results take time. So don’t get frustrated or disappointed if you don’t see immediate improvements. Keep doing these simple actions every day, get used to them and you’ll see clear improvements in about 4-6 weeks.
